Spotting early warnings and preventing problems before they occur: Zhongyun Technology precisely detects potential bearing wear issues in critical pumps.

Recently, in a large-scale chemical enterprise, a critical feed pump in a continuous production unit was running continuously. Thanks to its keen data sensing capabilities, the Zhongyun Technology Intelligent Operations and Maintenance Platform detected early signs of bearing failure at the pump’s drive end several weeks in advance. The platform successfully guided the customer to promptly shut down the equipment for maintenance, effectively preventing cascading failures and production disruptions that could have been caused by bearing damage.

 

I. Real-time Monitoring: Early Alerts Triggered by Data Anomalies

After the device was powered on and started operating on November 18, 2025, the platform detected on November 21 that the vibration acceleration at the drive end of the feed pump had risen above the alarm threshold. The system immediately triggered an alarm and automatically sent a notification to the operations and maintenance team, clearly indicating the equipment involved, its affiliated department, the alarm level, as well as the initial and latest alarm times. This enabled early detection of the fault and provided the operations and maintenance team with clear, timely risk guidance.

II. Intelligent Diagnosis: Decoding the Spectrum to Pinpoint the Root Cause of Wear and Tear

Upon receiving the alert, the Zhongyun Intelligent Diagnostics team immediately conducted an in-depth analysis of the vibration data. Combining this with the equipment’s rated speed, they ruled out common rotating-frequency faults such as misalignment and looseness. They preliminarily determined that the bearing at the pump drive end had suffered significant wear.

1. Precise planning and inspection

Following the platform’s recommendation, the company urgently shut down its operations on December 8. The on-site inspection results closely matched the platform’s diagnosis, confirming significant wear on the bearing rolling elements.

2. Rapid Repair and Verification

After replacing the bearing with a new one and restarting the equipment, real-time monitoring data showed that the acceleration value at the pump drive end quickly dropped back within the safe threshold, and the equipment’s operating condition returned to stable.
