Zhongyun Kangchong has joined forces with China University of Petroleum (Beijing) to establish the Joint Research Center for Intelligent Safety Operations and Maintenance of Oil and Gas Equipment, jointly advancing the research and development of predictive maintenance technologies and the deployment of related application scenarios in the petroleum and petrochemical industries.
Release time:2026-10-09
On September 29, Wuhan Zhongyun Kangchong Technology Co., Ltd. and China University of Petroleum (Beijing) signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in Beijing and unveiled the jointly established Joint Research Center for Intelligent Safety Operations and Maintenance of Oil and Gas Equipment. Building on their earlier project collaborations, the two parties will deepen research in Prognostics and Health Management (PHM), fostering the integration of scientific findings with industrial needs.
Ning Guoyun, General Manager of Zhongyun Kangchong, Wang Tongqi, Secretary of the Party Committee of China University of Petroleum (Beijing), Zhang Laibin, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and representatives from both sides attended the event.
Complementary strengths drive collaboration between research and industry.
Zhongyun Kangchong has long been dedicated to the field of predictive maintenance for industrial equipment and is recognized as a national high-tech enterprise, a specialized, refined, distinctive, and innovative SME in Hubei Province, and a Wuhan Gazelle Enterprise. The company independently develops sensing hardware, edge terminals, AI‑based diagnostic algorithms, and a PHM‑driven intelligent operations and maintenance platform, creating an integrated product and service ecosystem that encompasses data acquisition, condition monitoring, intelligent diagnostics, and expert support. It also boasts extensive experience in on-site industrial deployments and engineering applications.
China University of Petroleum (Beijing) boasts distinctive strengths in the energy sector and a robust pool of research talent. The academician Zhang Laibin’s team has long been engaged in research on the safety of oil and gas equipment, as well as fault diagnosis and risk early warning for power‑generation units. With deep expertise in failure mechanisms, fault identification, and safety assessment, they provide both theoretical foundations and methodological support for health monitoring and life‑cycle prediction under complex operating conditions.
The two parties will leverage the research strengths of universities and the R&D, engineering, and industrialization capabilities of enterprises, defining research topics based on field‑based needs and advancing technology transfer through joint R&D and on‑site validation.
Focusing on technological R&D and expanding industry application scenarios.
Leveraging the Joint Research Center, the two parties will conduct research spanning sensor data acquisition, fault diagnosis, health assessment, remaining‑life prediction, and intelligent operation‑and‑maintenance agents. They will explore methods for integrating equipment‑level mechanisms with operational data, thereby enhancing the capability to detect anomalies and diagnose faults under complex operating conditions.
Targeting scenarios such as oil and gas production, storage and transportation, petrochemical processing, gas storage facilities, and LNG receiving terminals, the two parties will focus on critical rotating equipment—including pumps, compressors, and fans—advance the development and field validation of monitoring solutions, refine fault‑diagnosis case studies and maintenance feedback, and provide support for early warning of equipment anomalies, maintenance decision‑making, and the reduction of unplanned outages.
The Joint Research Center is co-directed by General Manager Ning Guoyun and Professor Wang Jinjiang, with Academician Zhang Laibin serving as Chair of the Technical Committee, thereby providing organizational support for ongoing R&D and the commercialization of research outcomes.
Looking ahead, Zhongyun Kangchong will allocate R&D and engineering resources to collaborate with China University of Petroleum (Beijing) in deepening research on predictive maintenance technologies, develop intelligent operations and maintenance use cases with demonstrative value, facilitate the implementation and widespread adoption of its findings, and contribute to the safe, stable, and efficient operation of the oil and petrochemical industries.
